There is a full slate of Unarmored Combat activities on the Schedule for this year’s Portrero War. We’ve got open practice and sparring sessions, a tourney, and classes! Oh the classes – more classes than we’ve had at a single event in the history of Unarmored Combat! Activities will be going most of the day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so please take a few moments to come by and see what this form is all about! We’re the smallest marshal form in Caid, but growing quickly.
All Unarmored Activities will take place at the erics located just west of the Stone Tables and Merchants’ Row. Closed-toe shoes are required for participation in all Unarmored Activities, including classes. Make sure to bring water and sunscreen, and wear clothes you can move comfortably in. Students should bring their own swords, bucklers, and protective gear if they have it. If not, loaner equipment will be available.
You do not need to have any prior combat/marshal experience to participate in the classes (although the advanced and intermediate classes may not be suitable for beginners). There will be no full-contact in any of the classes – only structured drills and partner exercises. Fighters must be authorized to participate in the tourney. Fighters currently authorized or in process on their authorization may spar during the open practice sessions. Beginners are welcome at open practice sessions to work on training, drills, and get one-on-one time with marshals and experienced fighters.
