Potrero War
Countdown To Potrero War
Thursday May 21, 2015 - Monday May 25, 2015

Archery

All of the Archery shoots scheduled this year will BEGIN at the scheduled time. If you wish to participate, please arrive at the archery range 10 minutes prior to the shoot's scheduled time to join the lists.

Also, if you wish to shoot at anything other than the Hay Wall, you must have a current SCA authorization card. We advise, for your convenience, that you authorize prior to war. If you are unable to do so, there will be scheduled authorization periods at war.

Summary: Potrero Champion (William Tell)
Description: The object of a William Tell shoot is to hit the apple on the boy's head without hitting the boy. The boy is a picture target, with either an apple drawn sitting on his head, or a real apple stuck to the target above the boy's head. This is a popular competition and allows a large number of archers to participate at one time. The competition allows each archer one or two tries at the apple. If the boy is hit by the arrow, then that archer is disqualified from the competition. If no one hits the apple, then those that are not disqualified shoot another round. If more than one archer hits the apple, the successful archers continues to the next round. This continues until there is a single winner. Consider the number and caliber of archers in the competitions when deciding the shooting distance.
