Land Allocation Information
NOTE: SIGNIFICANT CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO LAND ALLOCATION THIS YEAR.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING RULES VERY CAREFULLY, AS THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS YEARS.
There are now two different pages for regular land allocation and Sleepy Hollow/RV space registration. Please make sure you are using the correct form for where you want to camp. If you wish to sign up for an RV space or a camp site in Sleepy Hollow, DO NOT USE THE REGULAR LAND ALLOCATION LINK.
There is a new map this year. Several of the camping areas have been re-named, so make sure you are looking in the correct area for your chosen camping spot. The area known as Bedlam has been moved to what was formerly called North Shore. The area that was Bedlam is now Baronial Row (on the map this area is A-F 4-7). This area is reserved ONLY for baronies, cantons, shires and colleges. No other campers are allowed in this area. New Potrero Camping Map
There are now three different noise curfew zones across the park. Quiet hours are as follows: Sleepy Hollow - 11PM; Stones Throw, Camelot, Far Glen, Merchants Row, Baronial Row, and parking lot overflow camping- 1AM; Battlefield, The Brakes, and Bedlam - 3AM. During quiet hours, you will be asked to keep sounds down to a conversational level. These noise curfews will be strictly enforced, so please take this into account when selecting your land allocation preferences. New Potrero Quiet Zones Map
General Rules
- Land allocation is for groups of 10 or more. You do not need to be pre-registered to land allocate, however there are benefits to pre-registration such as a reduced gate fee.
- To make the land allocation process work smoothly, each camping group must designate a camp master to be the main contact person for their group. That person MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED and be able to speak for the group. They must be able to supply their modern and SCA names, phone number and e-mail address - an e-mail address is required so that the land allocation staff is able to contact the camp master if necessary. The camp master must be the person who enrolls the camping group in the land allocation process, and must be available to be the first member of the group on site.
- Just because you have pre-registered does not mean that you will automatically have land allocated for you. Once your group has enrolled in the land allocation process, individual members of the group may then sign up to stay with the group. This will automatically send an email to the contact person, indicating your desire to stay with the group.
- Land will be allocated for groups based solely on the number of campers who have signed up to stay with the group. If you have a large group, you will want as many people as possible in your group to participate in land allocation. If you have a group of 50 people and only 10 sign up for land allocation, you will receive only 2500 square feet - it will be a very tight squeeze. Large groups who participate in land allocation will get an additional 250 square feet for every 10 people who have PRE-REGISTERED. Do not sign up imaginary people, pets, or people who will not be attending the event. Doing so will impact your group's land allocation status in the future.
- While the SCA is known for its hospitality, do not allow your friends and their friends who did not sign up for land allocation to join your encampment. This will lead to serious over crowding. Pathways through your encampment must be maintained for fire and safety reasons. There will be camping land available elsewhere for those who decided at the last minute to come camping. Do not endanger your encampment by overcrowding.
- Geo-political groups, (ie. Royals, Baronies, Shires, Cantons, and Colleges) will get preferential treatment and an extra 900 square feet for infrastructure, such as dining halls and fire pits.
- Make a first, second, and third choice. Do not make all your choices the same. If you do not make a second or third choice, the default setting is A-1. This will appear on your list of choices. We will do our best to honor your choices. If you have a particular site that you want, use the comment section to describe the area in detail. Be very explicit. Do not assume that the land allocation staff remembers where you have camped in the past, or that they know where you want to camp.
- If you are camping in Stone's Throw, DO NOT use the T-1-T-7 designation for your camp site. These numbers are only used by Potrero County Parks for reserving camping sites - the SCA does not use these camp site designations. Please use the map co-ordinates instead.
- Land allocation will close May 15, 2010
- Reservations for land allocation will remain in effect until 6pm Friday evening. If no one from your group has arrived by then, your group loses its allocation. Those groups traveling more that 6 hours are invited to contact landallocation@potrerowar.org to discuss late arrival issues.
- Negotiation with your neighbors is encouraged and any unallocated land is considered shared by whoever is on its borders. We ask that you please only take what you need. We ask that all groups be willing to work with their neighbors to come to a reasonable, agreeable conclusion when land disputes arise.
- Any group found to be overflowing into another group's marked land, moving boundary markers or signs, adding new roads, cutting off access to the water supply or attempting to set up camp in an area reserved for another group will be removed from site.
- There are now three different noise curfew zones across the park. Quiet hours are as follows: Sleepy Hollow - 11PM; Stones Throw, Camelot, Far Glen, Merchants Row, Baronial Row, and parking lot overflow camping- 1AM; Battlefield, The Brakes, and Bedlam - 3AM. These noise curfews will be strictly enforced, so please take this into account when selecting your land allocation preferences.
