Welcome to Spring Potrero War
The Barony of Calafia wishes to cordially extend an invitation to the entirety of the Knowne World to join us once again for a weekend of fighting, frolicking, and revelry in the shade of the beautiful oak trees of Potrero. Gates will open at 10am Thursday for those who choose to spend an extra day with us and at 8am Friday for all other attendees. There will be combat scenarios or tournaments on Friday.
Fire and Grey Water Policies
Fire Policy: Due to the actual fire danger and the recent fires, the policies are stricter and will be enforced to the letter. Please read the full policy here.
Grey Water Disposal: There have been some new environmental laws enacted both at the State and County level this year which affect all San Diego County parks. The laws require parks to implement a stricter control of gray water disposal to avoid soil and underground water-source contamination. These new laws require that the only water to touch the soil is rainwater, to the extent that this is feasible. Please read the full policy here.
Our online volunteer sign-up is now available. Please donate 2 hours to help make the war happen!
Land Allocation is now open! But not for much longer! Land Allocation will be closing on May 10th. Please sign-up now if you haven't yet!
Pre-Registration is now CLOSED! For any questions concerning Pre-registration please e-mail Lady Medb ingen Mathgamna at prereg@potrerowar.org
Ant Abatement and Vehicle Fee
The Barony has made some changes to the war over the past few years, some were not as successful as others, but for the most part they achieved their desired effects. An area we have had limited success in was that of ant abatement. The arrangements of the past have not had recent successes. The Barony has decided to contract with a commercial pest control firm to survey the site and provide timely applications to make the camping areas more hospitable to our folks.
Another thing that has become clear to us is that the capacity of the event will be determined by parking capacity and the ability to safely evacuate the site in an emergency. In an effort to allow everyone interested to attend and to encourage carpooling, the Barony will start charging a $1.00 per vehicle parking fee this May War. The per vehicle fee includes trailers as well. This is viewed as a permanent addition with the amount of the fee to be reviewed annually. These fess will be used to help defray the cost of professional ant control before the event. The Barony thanks the populace for it's understanding in this matter and looks forward to seeing everyone out in May at Potrero.
